A message from the president of Prams Water Shipping Co.Inc

When asked during a marketing seminar as to what was the most important goal of our business, my answer was “to make money”. Many others who had given answers such as customer service, customer satisfaction, customer care, service to the industry, service to the community or product quality etc. burst out laughing, but when they listened to my explanation, they left the seminar with a different vision altogether. The speaker himself was quite amused with my answer but afforded me the opportunity to explain myself. His thinking was that moneymaking should be a secondary goal and it should be a byproduct of good customer relationship etc. Let us face it; all “for profit” organizations are in the business of making money.

One should always remember that in the business of making money the most important factor is your customer. It is solely in the hands of your customer to give you his/her business. In order to choose his/her provider, the customer is looking for a reliable service, a product ofthe highest standard, a provider who takes pride in their product and stands behind it and who satisfies his/her needs. At Prams Water Shipping we are in the business of making money and we are well aware that in order to do so, we need the support of our customers.

We cannot loose sight of the fact that our customers expect reliable and quality service, which we have developed through an experienced technical and administrative staff that has more than thirty years of individual experience in the shipping industry. Our trained staff makes your interaction with customer service a memorable experience. While serving the pulp and paper industry for the last fifteen years, we have come to like the trade of primary and secondary fibers.

Our integrated service to South and Central America puts us ahead of our competition. Since our terminal operation at Salem, New Jersey is integrated with stevedoring operations and further vertically integrated with ship owning, operating, managing and chartering operations, we have a competitive edge not generally available to all. Since we wear many hats, we know exactly what the needs of our customers are and those needs are tended to even before our customer needs to ask. At Prams Water, we know that if we have achieved our goal of making money, then we have satisfied our customers, we have served our community, we have served our industry, and we have served our Nation, by doing our job right. Getting ahead of the competition is easy. Getting ahead of ourselves is what we always strive for.
